An emblematic pass in the Pyrenees, the Tourmalet represents a goal to reach for many cyclists.
Initially created with India ink, this artwork captures the powerful relief of this peak, its changing sky, reflective of the Pyrenees, and a light that cannot be tamed.
This painting is part of my series "1 month - 3 peaks (ok, 4)" aiming to highlight the emblematic peaks of the Pyrenees.

A peak with a history:
The Col du Tourmalet and its mountain are located on the route of the great transhumance; its name is said to come from "Tour malet": "bad detour" or "bad passage"... And one quickly understands why when one is there.
It's a place where the weather can change in a few minutes. A pass where you feel the wind and the effort but not necessarily the solitude.
A raw landscape that I wanted to transcribe with soft nuances and a dense sky.
